At the heart of bustling Lagos city, Mr. Adewale, a no-nonsense bank manager, was known for two things: his relentless pursuit of excellence and his deep concern for the safety of his staff.

Among his staff was Chinedu, a young, energetic marketer who often travelled long distances to meet clients and secure big accounts.

His dedication was impressive, but his schedule was brutal. Many times, Chinedu would return late from a trip, exhausted but still expected to report early the next day.

“This,” he said, “is called an anti-sleep alarm. It hooks behind the ear and sounds a sharp alarm if your head nods forward from drowsiness.

From today, every staff member who drives on assignment must wear one, especially during long trips or night drives.”

At first, some staff murmured about the discomfort or embarrassment, but Chinedu, now more aware of what he had narrowly escaped, became the biggest advocate.

“It saved me once already,” he said. “If I had one that night, I might not have hit anything at all.”

Weeks passed, and the policy became routine. Accidents and close calls dropped to zero.

Even drivers from other banks began asking questions when they saw the device in use.

Mr. Adewale’s decision, once seen as overbearing, soon earned him respect not just as a manager—but as someone who genuinely cared. And Chinedu?

He went on to lead the bank’s safety committee, with one motto always on his lips:
